What Is the Difference Between AAAA, AAA and AA Weed?

AAAA, AAA, and AA are informal Canadian cannabis grades for dried cannabis flower. AAAA is usually premium flower, AAA is high quality everyday flower and AA is a more budget friendly grade. These grades are not official government standards, so one retailer’s AAAA may be another retailer’s AAA.

What Does AAAA Weed Mean?

AAAA weed, also called quad-A or quads, is an informal label for premium cannabis flower. AAAA buds are usually dense, well trimmed, frosty with visible trichomes, and rich in aroma.

AAAA cannabis often has a more careful cure and stronger visual appeal than lower grades. However, AAAA does not guarantee the highest THC percentage, and it is not an official Canadian cannabis grade.

What Does AAA Weed Mean?

AAA weed, also called triple-A or trips, is high-quality cannabis flower that offers a balance of quality and price. AAA buds are usually well formed, reasonably dense, and covered with visible trichomes.

AAA cannabis can have a strong aroma and solid effects, but it may have smaller buds, less frost, a less complex aroma, or minor trim imperfections compared with AAAA flower.

What Does AA Weed Mean?

AA weed, also called double-A or dubs, is a budget cannabis grade. AA flower can still be enjoyable, but it usually has less trichome coverage, looser buds, milder aroma, and more visual imperfections than AAA or AAAA cannabis.

AA cannabis is not automatically weak or poor quality. The grade simply suggests fewer premium characteristics in the flower’s appearance, trim, aroma, and cure.

Is AAAA Weed Always Stronger Than AAA Weed?

No. AAAA weed is not always stronger than AAA weed. Cannabis grades describe overall flower quality, including bud structure, trichomes, aroma, trim quality, moisture, and cure.

THC percentage is only one factor. A well-grown AAA strain can test higher in THC than a AAAA strain. Check the product’s cannabinoid information and terpene profile instead of relying on the letter grade alone.

Is AAAA Worth More Than AAA or AA?

AAAA cannabis usually costs more because the flower has stronger bag appeal, more careful cultivation, a better cure, and fewer visible imperfections. AAA cannabis often provides the best balance between quality and price. AA cannabis is usually the lower cost option.

The letter grade is subjective. Review product photos, cannabinoid details, freshness, and retailer information before comparing products.
